Performance Opportunities
As many of our students will already know the music school like to extend the musical learning experience beyond the weekly lessons. For over 10 years we have held regular concerts at which our students have had the chance to perform in public. Originally, we started with an annual winter concert, which over time extended to also include an annual summer concert. Over the years we have also had to find larger and larger venues to accommodate the demand for these concerts with our last concert in December 2021 attracting over 600 attendees and spanning more than 8 hours. Unfortunately, due to the popularity of these concerts they have become unmanageably large and we cannot continue with them in their current format. However, we have some good news, we will be continuing with concerts in a new form and also opening up more performance opportunities in different formats starting from 2023. The main change we will be to seperate the events into Acoustic or Electric/Amplified events as follows.

We will be holding an annual competition at which students will be able to perform a short program of songs. Performers will be competing in categories based on their standard. There will be Trophies for winners and family members will be able to attend to watch all the performances
VENUE: St Johns Church, Bridge Street, Derby

ENTRY FEE: £15 per category
SPECTATORS: £5 PER PERSON
TIME: 2pm-6pm
We will be holding sessions where pupils can bring their instrument and a backing track and can perform a few songs in a public venue to a live audience

TICKETS: Free entry to everyone (performers and families/friends)

This is a project we have been running for the past 3 years. The events are open to singers aged 13 years up to adults. Students are responsible for learning and performing their own “music set” which they will perform in a live gig situation in a local venue. These gigs are normally held on Saturday evenings and we normally have one of these events every 4 months

ACOUSTIC = Piano, Acoustic Guitar, Violin, Viola, Banjo, Ukulele, self-accompanying singers etc
ELECTRIC/AMPLIFIED = Keyboard, Electric Guitar, Singers using backing tracks and microphones and other amplified instruments eg Electric Violin, Electric Ukulele etc
